Jean Michel Jarre & Nile Rodgers Join IMS 2013

At a time when dance music seems to be taking over mainstream culture, the International Music Summit (IMS) has brought together the most important players in the business to share their thoughts for the three day summit, and rounding off each day with unique one-off events with performances from Fatboy Slim, BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong, Sven Vath, Maya Jane Coles and DJ Driis (Idris Elba).

While the IMS focuses on shaping the future of electronic music, the light also shines heavily on those that have helped pave the way… This year, the they are thrilled to announce that Jean Michel Jarre, one of the earliest pioneers of synthesised music, will be giving a keynote interview where he will discuss his career, past, present and future. He says:

“I was excited to discover the IMS event in Ibiza and particularly the values it holds for a genre of music which I’ve been involved in from the early beginnings. I continue to push the genre forward in many ways, and I see my Keynote Interview at IMS as a way to continue to communicate my passions to a wider and younger audience – who appear to be today’s trailblazers for this genre, all united in one location.”

Jarre, who laid the foundations of what eventually became dance music, having also established himself as the true master of the open-air extravaganza with incredible light shows at Tiananmen Square, the Pyramids as backdrops and the infamous Destination Docklands shows, has been collaborating with some of the hottest contemporary names in modern electronica, including his recent work on Parisian imprint InFiné.

Nile Rodgers, who broke the news that he was working with Daft Punk at last years IMS, and is the global ambassador for the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM), will also be returning to the IMS for a chat.

The line up of speakers is looking like IMS’s strongest yet, new additions include artists DJ Yoda and Guy Gerber, alongside industry titans Ted Cohen, Oliver Luckett (The Audience), Shane Murray (Ibiza Rocks), Marcus Trojan (Weekend Club), and Stephen Titmus (Shazaam).
